Job Description
Hello, I'm looking for a composer who can create a three-minute score that doesn't just accompany the trailer, but becomes one of the reasons people feel they have to watch the feature. This is for a composer and sound designer to build the score and the sound world for a three-minute cinematic trailer for SYSTEMS, a near-future hopeful sci-fi project made for the Future Vision XPRIZE. Two areas of particular focus for our project. *Trailer work. Please Show trailers you have actually scored or sound designed. Not albums. Not library cues. Trailers, where the whole architecture has to land in a hundred and eighty seconds and every second especially the silences contribute. Lead your reply with those. *Emotional resonance. The second thing is harder to demonstrate and impossible to fake. I want to hear something you made that moved someone. If a piece of yours has ever put a stranger somewhere they weren't expecting to go, send that one first, even if the picture around it was rough. SYSTEMS is about the hidden coordination holding civilisation together, and what happens when someone takes it apart on purpose. The signature image is a murmuration. Thousands of starlings moving as one, no leader, no signal you can point to. That is a sound problem to solve. The shape of the score, roughly: Intimate and wounded to open. A single pulse, close, human. Then that pulse starts to fail, and the failure is the thing the audience feels before they understand it. Rhythmic intelligence builds in layers as the world reveals itself. Voices return as meaning returns. It ends in awe, not bombast. Nobody needs another wall of braams. No neon. No dystopian default. The film's whole argument is that repair is possible and costly, and the music has to believe that. The sound design question, openly. The trailer needs both a score and a sound world: impacts, ambience, the texture of a system coming apart. I know these are different crafts. Tell me which you do. If you do both, say so and show me. If you only compose, say that too and it costs you nothing. I would rather fill two seats well than one seat badly. The practical reality: this is low-to-deferred budget at this stage. The upside: A serious XPRIZE submission with production backing in play for finalists. Founding creative crew, not work-for-hire. You shape the emotional architecture from the first frame of the next stage in this journey towards a feature. A trailer designed to stand apart from the current wave of glossy AI demos. A hopeful sci-fi concept with real hard scientific spine underneath it. The missing piece is the person who can make an audience feel the pulse before they see the bird. Email me (albert@dmr-global.net) and I'll send the concept overview and the music brief with a starting point.
